Lionsclub Gooj Stéin Echt
Lionsclub Gooj Stéin Echt is onderdeel van de internationale Lions organisatie. In Lionsclubs werken mensen uit de lokale gemeenschap in Gemeente Echt-Susteren op vriendschappelijke en vrijwillige basis samen om hulp te bieden daar waar dat nodig is. Primair voor de lokale gemeenschap, maar daarnaast samen met de overkoepelende organisatie Lionsclubs International ook vaak voor hulpverlening elders in de wereld.
Lionsclubs bepalen zelf de doelen die ze willen onder- steunen en de wijze waarop ze uitvoering geven aan de dienstverlening. Lionsclubs handelen onder het motto: “We Serve”
Lions overal ter wereld
ions en Leo’s zetten zich belangeloos in om anderen te helpen. Met zo’n 1,4 miljoen leden zijn we al meer dan 100 jaar actief over de hele wereld en vormen we de grootste serviceorganisatie ter wereld. In Nederland zijn ruim 10.000 Lions in meer dan 435 Lionsclubs actief. Geen enkele club is hetzelfde. Er zijn mannenclubs, vrouwenclubs en gemengde clubs, maar ook speciale clubs met alleen expats of mensen met dezelfde hobby of culturele achtergrond.
Iedere cent naar het goede doel
Elke Lionsclub kiest zijn eigen projecten. Veel clubs zetten zich in voor lokale doelgroepen, zoals kwetsbare jongeren, mensen met een beperking, laaggeletterden of dementerenden. Of voor onze vijf global causes (internationale kernthema’s): diabetes, duurzame leefomgeving, honger/armoede, blindheid/oogziekten en kinderkanker. Lions nemen initiatief, stimuleren, organiseren en brengen partijen bij elkaar. We organiseren niet alleen acties om geld in te zamelen (fundraising), maar steken ook de handen uit de mouwen. Dit alles onder het motto: Lions helpen!
Via onze contributie dragen we bij aan de Lions Clubs International Foundation. Dit fonds biedt grootschalige noodhulp bij rampen, zoals aardbevingen, orkanen en pandemieën.
